South Yorkshire Workplace ChaplaincyWorkplace Chaplaincy - the core activitySYWC provides chaplains to a wide variety of workplaces. Our ecumenical team of 25 volunteer chaplains consists of lay and ordained people, both women and men who commit half a day per week to this work. In keeping with the changes now taking place in employment and working practice chaplains operate in increasingly diverse working environments ranging from traditional heavy industry, retail, transport, scientific research and the South Yorkshire Fire Service. We train and support workplace chaplains to a very high standard. Our support programme includes initial induction training, a number of formal training sessions throughout the year, local support groups and mentoring. SYWC is committed to the development and encouragement of lay ministry alongside ordained ministry, we therefore welcome enquires from lay people as well as ordained ministers who are interested in voluntary workplace chaplaincy. SYWC has a number of vacancies that need chaplains and we also need new volunteers as we develop new areas of workplace chaplaincy. |
