We are a team of two dozen people, lay and clergy, who provide
chaplaincy to a number of workplaces in South Yorkshire. Some of
us are full or part-time paid staff, and some are unpaid and contribute
on a sessional basis. If you contact the office, you are likely to
encounter one of the following members of the team;-
Chris Chesters
is the Chief Executive. Chris is a Church Army Captain and
his job is to co-ordinate the work of SYWC. A trainer on the national
industrial mission course, he has particular interests in improving the
quality of the service we offer, training and theological reflection.
John Freeman is the accounts administrator and a Fire and Rescue Service chaplain. He is a Methodist lay person
with particular interests in prayer and drumming.
Julia Hutchinson is the general adminstrator, without whom the whole
enterprise would grind to a halt. She is a member of the local Baptist
congregation and has particular interests in pastoral care.
Martin Grubb, a frequent visitor to our office, chairs the Board of Directors.
He is an Anglican lay person.
John Stride is chaplain to HM courts service within South Yorkshire.
He is a priest in the Church of England and has particular interests in
developing a chaplaincy which touches people at every level in the courts.
Bob Warwicker is chaplain to Sheffield Forgemasters (Engineering
and Steels). A United Reformed Church minister, he has particular interests in
the marginal labour market and co-editing the national magazine for workplace
chaplains, IMAgenda.
Any of us will be glad to hear from you. Please contact
the office.
