Prayer from the Occupational Cycle;-

"Prayer"

We thank you God
For the work of care assistants and hospital porters,
Looking after people when no-one else can,
Working in the night, working hard,
Lifting, bathing, cleaning up after people,
Often on low pay.
God care for them.
We pray for domestic workers, hairdressers
And other service workers,
Often women, often low paid,
Cleaners in the early morning, before we're awake,
Au pairs taking a chance
On getting a good family.
God bless them all:
Give them hope and justice.

When I’m up high, looking down through

these acres of glass, I think of you.

When I sweep my squeegee through the grime,

I recall you make us clear time after time.

Give me a steady nerve

and a strong ladder,

honest customers

and good weather,

when I’m cleaning windows.
