Prayer from the Occupational Cycle;-

"Prayer"

Working in the night, after the children are in bed,
Those sore hands pack another box of cards:
Working in the day,
with children running round and breathing the dust,
Those tired hands work on another sleeve:
Working in the slow afternoon,
Years after the children have gone,
Old fingers hold the knitting needles.
God bless them all,
Give them rest, fair pay,
Safety, security, companionship
And hope.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
